The journey to securing the right education for your child is one that starts before your child takes the first step; and one you may tread until university and beyond. |

|
India International Schools Exhibition (IISE) aspires to be the best in the world. That’s partly because of its scope and diversity. So come and find out for yourselves just what the options are – they are so often far wider than you might previously have imagined – and how to access them. |

|
India International Schools Exhibition (IISE) 2012 will be the biggest schools exhibition yet. Come and join us. Here, under one roof, you will have the chance to come to terms with just what might be right for your child, for your family. You can compare and contrast the different ways schools work, what they offer and whether they feel right. Over and over again it is this feeling of personal chemistry that parents cite as their main reason for choosing a school. |

|
It pays to remember that it’s rare for schools not to have high standards, teach well, and deliver the outcomes we all want for our children: strong academic results, delightful and well- motivated children who are flexible thinkers with a social conscience. If schools weren’t doing this to the parents’ satisfaction then the market would close them! What you are intent on finding is the best fit for your child, for your family, for their talents and skills. Talking to the exhibiting schools’ senior staff, here at the IISE, will be the beginning of that road. |

India International Schools Exhibition (IISE) will also provide an opportunity to visitors with a unique opportunity to settle on a list of questions as you walk around the exhibition. |
|
- Day or boarding? A combination of both? Investigate boarding in its many different forms; occasional, “flexi” (which as its name suggests means that schools offer many different packages)?
- If you want your child to stay at school over a weekend find out how many others will be there, and in what age groups. This is particularly important with younger boarders. Ask about the weekend programme.
- Co-ed? Single gender? Faith based? India or overseas? City, town or in rural country?
- Small or large? Through school or pre-primary, primary, secondary or 11+ or 12+? Or a combination?
- Specialist provision for sport, for special educational needs, for the creative and performing arts?
- Exam results in individual subjects may well show a school’s strength, and they can be useful starting points for a conversation.
- Class sizes? Students relocating from overseas?
- Gain practical advice, and learn the difference between, scholarships and bursaries and how these are awarded and to whom?
- Are children, particularly in senior schools, taught according to ability (“setted” or “streamed”)?
- Talk to schools about how they tackle the perennial problem of bullying or the newer one of internet safety?
- What are the extra-curricular programs like? A long list of activities is great, but it’s a good idea to look into whether all that is advertised is actually on offer!
